November 1st

Day one of NaBloPoMo, and I have to start off by telling you that I am an idiot.  Luckily it doesn't seem my idiocy is irreparable.

We had a good day yesterday, carved 4 pumpkins, and the kids went Trick or Treating.  I had a "punk skeleton",  Scooby Doo, and the Red Power Ranger.  They had a fantastic time.  I, of course, took a lot of pictures.  We came home, did the annual hype the kids on candy thing, and I downloaded the pictures.  Or so I thought.  (See my fancy foreshadowing there?)  The pictures on the camera didn't automatically delete as they're programmed to, but that happens sometimes.  So I manually deleted them.  All of them.  Without checking to make sure they'd downloaded.  I'm sure you see where this is going...

It downloaded some of the pictures.  About half of the pumpkin carving pics.  None taken after that.  So none of the finished pumpkins, including Lexie, with her very first "carved it all by myself!" vampire pumpkin.  And even worse, no Skele-Punk.  No Scooby, No Power Ranger.  I almost cried when I realized this.  Luckily S is much more computer savvy than I am, and immediately started looking for a recovery program.  I just grabbed the camera and the kids and went out front to take more pictures! (No - not with the same memory card!  I'm not doing anything to risk the pictures that might be on that card until we have done everything possible to retrieve them.)  The good news is lots of recovery programs exist, and from the scans we've done, the pictures are still there, and recoverable.  So that's what I am working on now.

But that's why you're not getting the post I planned for today.  Because I am an idiot.  Hopefully tomorrow's post will be the pictures from yesterday that I had planned for today.
